• Discussion on whether to offer reproductions of the class of 1970 composite photo.The planning committee would like to see a larger reproduction before making a final decision. Also will add to website to see if calassmates would be interested.
• Mike Parsley contacted Slick Pig Barbeque and confirmed that cost does include dessert. Also, wings are available at $50 per 100. We need to let them know how many will be attending one week before the event.
• Not a lot of feedback from classmates on whether to host a softball game as part of the Saturday activities. Concensus is to not have one.
• Need to know cost for custodian(s) at site for cleanup after lunch on Saturday.

• Mike Parsley contacted Slick Pig Barbeque and learned the cost is comparable to Whitt's. Given that the planning committee members who have sampled it prefer Slick Pig's barbeque the concensus is to go with them for catering the Saturday luncheon.

• Discussion on whether to have a softball game as part of the Saturday activities. Concensus is to solicit feedback from classmates via email regarding how many classmates would like to play. Bill will check on availibility of ball field at Oaklands.

• We've learned that, due to the renovation schedule at the school, we will not be able to use the cafeteria or gym. Other site possibilities, including the school grounds, were discussed and a decision was made to check into the following and meet again in one week to discuss:

  • Would the current owner of the original composit profit from the sale of reproductions?

• 300 T-Shirts will be ordered. Sizes ordered will be based on pre-orders from classmates. Sizes available will be S, M, L, XL, XXL, and XXXL.
• The Crusty veterans will be the band for the Friday Night mixer.
• Finger food will be served at the Friday night mixer.
• A tent will be set up on the Square during the mixer. T-Shirts will be available along with tickets to the Saturday lunch.
• Sheila Bratton will find out if we can use the tables and chairs from the cafeteria, if we have to move the lunch from the cafeteria (due to remodeling) to the gym. Also, if the PA system will be available to us.
• Debbie Tipton will find out if her husband, Joe Tipton, can provide CD's for background music during the lunch.
• James Baskin is securing the insurance policy for using the school (for the lunch) and completing the "request of use" form the county requires to use a school building.
• Cost to classmates to attend the lunch will be $20, plus the cost of a T-Shirt (if they choose) at $10 each shirt.
• There will be no cover charge for the Friday night mixer at the Blue Rooster on the Square.

• James Baskin spoke with John Ash (new principal at Central) about using the cafeteria for the Saturday luncheon. He has agreed to let us use it, however, there will be some remodeling at the school this summer so we will have to find out if/when that will impact our using the cafeteria. James has also lined up the insurance coverage for the event. The cost will be a little over $300.
• Sharon McKnight reported that she has set up an account on classmates.com and has begun receiving responses regarding the reunion. She will begin adding new profile pages soon.
• The planning committeee is trying to decide whether to have live music or a DJ at the Saturday luncheon. Anyone have a preference? If so, send an email to planning@mchs1970.org.
